where lost words come to rest in pieces…

Through your orbit

My hapless ellipse
Crossed with your path one day -
I was pulled helplessly
By your massive attraction…

With every new cycle
You tightened the noose -
You roped my ambition
Until I revolved around you…

The longer I floated
In your fine gravity,
It became harder and harder
To fight the orbital decay…

We drifted yet closer -
I lost all my altitude -
I fell through your skies
And I smacked right into you…

And then we were one…

I love the astronomical imagery. You used it intelligently and intuitively. A very well crafted poem! Thank you for sharing it.
