where lost words come to rest in pieces…Archive for Devotion
From exile with love

I’m drifting through depleted deserts -
Lost between oceans and stark starry skies…
My steps are the crunching – the sinking through crusts -
I am wading the quicksand of aged recollections…
My thoughts of you are the far reaching tendrils -
The fluttering butterflies of wavering smoke…
Traversing the wasteland they cast their long shadows -
Dusting the dunes with their dreary departure…
The phantoms of flashbacks then find you in darkness -
They come to rest on the edge of your shoulders…
For the briefest of moments they stay teetering there -
Then you shake them off and the spell is broken…
Confused and dejected and fleeing so fleetly -
The echoes erratically ebb back to me…
Like crying children running into my arms -
I gather my thoughts and hold them close…
Looking up at the lost starry night -
Somewhere out there you remain…
I will not give up – I will try again -
My love and devotion will not be in vain!
My world

You can have it if you want-
You can have my world.
(If you can face yourself)
Because you are it…
Pieces

Three pieces of love for you
From the bottomless well of my heart
Each piece a word to you
Decorated with a chip of my soul
A diamond sparkling like the sun
Glittering in the light of your smile
“I LOVE YOU”
-Translated from the Afrikaans poem “Brokkies” by Francois Bergh
Smile

Break the silence
With your smile-
A bright blossom
On an empty morning
In a desert daydream.
Crack the veil
Of the frozen heart
That is living on your laughter:
A bottomless bucket-lake
Kept brimming by your mirth…
Eternity Blossoms

Bloom, blossoming flower,
And fill thy heart with love.
Make happiness no boundary,
And stars the real eternity.
Where sun would now become the moon-
To appease – and flicker light,
Where we could ever stumble…
