The Tides

The tides are rushing out
Just leaving me behind
Running to the ebbing
I cannot catch the surf
I’m stuck in the moment
My soul entwined in you
My heart is thrumming loss
Tuned to fading belief
The sloughing memories
Are leaving me exposed
To roam this empty beach
Must be my destiny…
And for the audio-philes:
Come sail with me

The breath of the ocean is calling my soul -
My spirit seduced by the shrieks of the gulls -
I’m buckled by the beckoning of the briny breeze,
And lured by the sensual song of the Sirens…
Here at the helm at the top of the world,
With a course that was charted from cradles of dreams,
And the allmighty Zephyr force-feeding the sails -
You’re invited to join on my last epic journey…
In perfect sunrises we’ll run with the wind -
At the edge of the world we shall find paradise;
We’ll go hunting for islands with white sandy beaches
And go looking for sea-shells washed up on their shores…
In crystal atolls we’ll go swimming so freely,
With our feet gently teasing the pink coral reefs -
Dripping on the deck we will bake in the sunshine,
Whispering secrets in the lee of a life raft…
When daylight recedes and your hand wraps in mine -
Afloat in the dreaming we’ll watch the sun sinking -
The stars will come rushing and gaze down upon us -
Together forever the storms we will weather…
Sea Bird

Little mermaid
Pink and blue-
Fly into the deep-sea hue,
And consider not ever
The claws of raging fear.
You’re free as a bird-
The sea is your sky,
But more than the land-
It hears not the cry;
It knows not the lie.
Soar through the water-air
And dream of bird-like flair.
Forget the time as it forgets
That you are the one in the sky -
You are the one waving goodbye!
But water would not be your sky,
And land is now your enemy…
Neither hears your agony,
As you had once believed
They would…
Neither feels your presence,
As you had always hoped
They could…
Neither are,
What you once knew
They were…
Passing by

Time passes by – wondering why -
Wondering what was left behind.
Little knicknacks on the sand
With footprints linking leisurely;
Bridging brittle memories -
Like rainbows without rain,
And a life that was without pain…
Where has it all gone?
Crushed shells on a lovely beach;
Washing, turning, breaking waves -
From a time forgotten in the wind;
Grains of sand from a castle’s walls,
That filled the sky of every dream-
When I loved you, and you loved me…
Fairyland

Fairyland
Of water and sand
And ocean-fresh winds
And candy-floss clouds
The clamorous melody
Of the surf-song echoes
And the waves polka-dance
To the tune of eternity
Grace preserved
Will be reserved
And revealed with flourish
Beneath crystal-dew and morning glory
a Tok-Tokkie struggles-scrambles
and creeps over a gold-red dune-
collosal-shuffling-slumbering
in the fiery midday sun
a Jackal yip-yip cackles
And drags its meal over the sand;
Foresaken-abandoned it peers around
While the Skeleton Coast grins cruelly
The day dawdles
And tides under sunshine
Swaps pulsating places
Until day is embraced by night
